Ask any local and they'll let you know awfully quick that the months just before and after "peak season" are THE time to harvest local catches, find better waves, take a pre-dusk boat ride, and hit your favorite honey-hole.
That's not to say that we aren't grateful for the swaths of frightening-ly sunburnt tourists that keep the bills paid - but suffice it to say that we are already dropping anchor, throwing the casting net, and paddling out before they've hit the freeway on the way home.
